February 2022

I haven't even kept track of March... This is going bad. I keep getting distracted. I know, that's probably a good thing but it's not because life is so thrilling, I've just kept myself extremely occupied. I'm learning to speedrun my favourite game, Final Fantasy IX and I've immersed myself in learning everything I can. Because it's something I love and it's a new way of looking at it. I've been spending a lot of time on Twitch and making an effort to actually engage with people which is different for me but nice. It feels nice to interact with people talk about my favourite games. 

So yeah, that's where I've been. When I can, I have a glass of wine and watch old black and white movies with my husband and sometimes I watch stuff when I can. But it's not that often. I'm trying though.

January 2022

It's been a long month but we managed. This time last year we had just come home with our new baby. It was a tiring and scary time. I've been reflecting on how much has changed, how much I've changed. We're much calmer nowadays, well baby has a couple teeth cutting through so she's having a rough time but I'm coping better than I expected. As long as I get a good nights sleep. 

We're currently watching old movies as my husband seems curious and I just love to rewatch them. I'm also trying to speedrun Final Fantasy IX, I don't have the time to sit still for over 9 hours so I'm doing it quickly whenever I get a moment to myself. It's a new way of playing, prioritising speed and not grinding levels or peeking in every nook and cranny. It's nice to find a new way of looking at something I really love.

December 2020

 It hasn't been that long since I last wrote here. I want to say I'm less low than I have been but I'm just waiting for that 2022 routine to settle in. Who knows what to expect at this point. Just have to keep my head up and my mind occupied. Lately, and through the end of the last year I've been playing and watching other people play video games. I've not quite figured out how to incorporate this into my lists. I've tried previously but it's hard to quantify. I feel like I should have noted my platinum trophy achievements but I didn't. I wish I had now.

That's all to say, I've not watched as many movies, tv shows, or read as many books as I have done previously. Whether that's a good or a bad thing I don't know. Video games (for me at least) are easy to step away from and do in short bursts. 
The baby is crawling and babbling, we've had variations of mamma and dadda and something which sounds like 'hello' but I can't be sure.

November 2021

 Not even managing to keep up with this anymore. I feel like I'm losing myself again. Most of November we were sick from whatever the baby had picked up at nursery. Not covid related thankfully. This spilled over into December and it's just made things very arduous. I've felt sad more than happy, stressed more than relaxed and I've played a lot of video games to make up for it (Resident Evil Remakes.) I wish I could say things will get be getting back to normal soon but I can't see them returning to the same as they were before. There'll be a new normal. I'll manage in the end but I'm sad about what was. I wish other people were okay with that too as I don't see the world getting back to where it was either. But that's just my mood at the moment.

October 2021

This is late because I've spent far too much time obsessively playing the Resident Evil 2  remake. Largely because I've needed a distraction to keep me going the past couple of weeks. I'm nervous about going back to work and when I get this way I need to keep busy. So I get obsessive about something, this was it. Although it hasn't lasted long enough as I'm not back at work until next week. I'll find something else. I struggled with finishing movies and books so they weren't working, maybe they will this time.
Otherwise it's been a quiet month. Baby is trying to walk and crawl and talk and doing an admirable attempt at all of them. It's unnerving how big she's getting!
My Joel Kinnaman affection tapered off at the beginning of the month and I've been trying to watch more TV shows. I need to keep up on those.

 I'm tired. That's all I've got right now. So tired. I've watched some crap tele and some good tele. I've watched some good movies (those were mostly rewatches) and I've watched some crap ones because I've had a hankering for some Joel Kinnaman. It wasn't quite as intense as last year's Chris Messina episode but he's been in less movies for me to get my hands on. Baby isn't crawling yet but she does love to stand up (with help). I continue to be impressed by her tenacity. I was supposed to go back to work next week but they've extended my leave so I can use up my holiday. It's good but I wish I had something more to do. Then again. I am tired...

August 2021

 I am late posting this. I wish I could say I've been busy but I haven't. I've just been very tired and distracted. Can't believe Love Island finished not that long ago, feels like a life time has passed. I'm barely watching movies or TV at the minute (unless it is truly terrible). I'm not sure what else to say except it's been another month. We have a 7 month old and she's magical but she's hard work. Weaning is exhausting. My birthday was a bit of a quiet one. It feels like even when we have something to celebrate it's too complicated with everything noawadays.

I did have a bit of a burst of movie activity in the middle of the month but it tapered off. I'm trying to read for my history book club and that is sapping most of my concentration away lately. I've not even managed to write in my journal lately. I have played through Bioshock Infinite and now I'm giving Bioshock 2 a go. It's something I can pause and walk away from at a moment's notice but I'm not quite paying attention so when my partner plays it in the evening (he's behind me) most of it is a delightful surprise! Hopefully I'll get my head screwed back on soon.
