June 2019

Stressful month. Started with not being able to sleep well, hence lots of views on 1st of the month. Hasn't vastly improved but I'm optimistic. I went to the cinema 7 times, I enjoyed that. Oh and Love Island started. Please don't hate me.

May 2019

I didn't sleep very well last night. I did go on my honeymoon this month. I didn't like the end of Game of Thrones very much. I did develop an unhealthy obsession playing Words with Friends (this will dissipate soon enough). I thought I had more interesting things to say.

Oh, I didn't originally watch the back half of season 3 of The OC when it was on the tv so that's why some of that will be in bold. I really hated it but then Season 4 of the OC happened and I loved it more than anything. Also Barry is the best show on the television right now (ignoring my DVD boxsets).

January 2019

Time seems to be moving at a frightening rate. Where did January go?

I'm trying to go to the cinema more often, well trying to get out more in general. Special shout out to Destroyer, a film in which Nicole Kidman was (as always) outstanding, but which excited me due to it's strong female story.

I certainly read the longest book in a while about the American Civil War, a period I knew very little about. My history fascination is certainly giving me a greater understanding of the world around me. I'm not quite capable of doing anything more than nodding sagely though.

Same rules apply, anything emboldened I haven't seen before. Anything italicised is a tv show, underlined a book, standard is a film. So far I've seen 30 films this year. Good times.

1/1 New Girl (5 episodes season 6, 8 episodes season 7 – FINISHED!) Lost in Translation (2004) Doctor Who: New Year Special, Luther (Season 5 – 1 episode)

Star Ratings

For posterity I have established what my star ratings represent. I hate half marks and I'm not a massive fan of marking something out of 10. It's a 5 star rating or nothing.

Also I've succumbed to tracking my film watching on Letterboxd. This is only for films so I'll still keep my lists for books/tv/other activities. Cataloguing everything seems to instil some satisfaction within me. Let's see how long I manage to keep it up.

* - 1 star - hated it, would never want to watch again
** - 2 stars - didn't like, wouldn't watch again but had some merits
*** - 3 stars - liked it, wouldn't feel compelled to watch again (but never say never!)
**** - 4 stars - liked it, would want to watch again
***** - 5 stars - loved it, would watch again lots
